STUDENT WORK
Creative arts are deeply rooted in the mind of the artist, so developing a student’s ability to observe and understand the world is crucial to any creative pursuit. While training can be tailored to specific program goals, the principles of form, composition, color, and lighting hold universal value.
This process is just as vital for games and animation, as all mediums reflect the artist's communicative intentions. By incorporating principles of motion, composition, and flow for cinema, students expand their learning vocabulary. These concepts are explored in flexible 2D formats for storyboards and animations before transitioning to 3D production.
As an educator, I’ve guided student teams through 8, 16, and 32-week animation projects, providing training and direction on various animation assessment methods for large productions, as well as project management and teamwork skills. Some of my proudest moments involve fostering positive collaborative environments, with several student animation projects winning awards and contributing to employment opportunities at major animation and game development studios.
